Perpetual VerificationA Multi-Hospital Health System experienced a software integrity issue which required validation of a perpetual inventory at a regional warehouse. A method for conducting inventory, with a minimum of prep time, for the purpose of updating the perpetual inventory with a no down time was needed.

Our Methodology
HISI utilizes SAS-70 II approved methods to perform all physical inventories for our healthcare clients. The methods employed to conduct periodic and perpetual counts are determined by the customer’s needs and the Scope of Work.
Audio Tape
HISI uses recorders to dictate all relevant information. The data is transcribed and a detailed report is created using the client’s item files for valuation. This procedure may be used for any supply count, but is primarily employed in non-pharmacy clinical areas such as OR and Cath Lab.
PDT Bar Scanning
HISI brings hand held scanners, computer(s) and printers on-site to perform inventory. PDT units may be used for pharmacy, warehouse and asset projects. Items are scanned and uploaded allowing HISI to provide a computer generated audit trail report.
Telxon Units
HISI personnel will utilize your drug wholesale company’s hand held scanners if you simply need experienced auditors to conduct the physical count. Reports are generated by the wholesale company.
Count Sheets
HISI will provide an audit team to record on-hand quantities when the client has an inventory system that may be used for physical counts. The hospital generates accurate and up-to-date count sheets sorted by cost center and location. HISI manually records on hand product volumes using the Unit of Measure noted. If requested, HISI can also supply data entry services. Informally called a Hand List count, this method allows the client to update their system and immediately address any system variances.
RFID Equipment
HISI teams will use the customer’s hardware to capture inventory information. Client’s equipment is provided for the purpose of conducting the physical counts. This method is often used in large distribution warehouses allowing system updates and variances to be addresses in real time.
With every method HISI will provide a seasoned Project Manager and full time personnel. Our Sales Team will work with you to determine which PI method best suits your project and budget.
